How to check if baking soda is still good? | Easy Baking Soda Test | Kitchen Hack
————————————————————
Have you found an old pack of baking soda in your kitchen and wondered if it’s still usable? Before throwing it away, try this simple 30-second baking soda test!

Just add a little vinegar or lemon juice to a small amount of baking soda. If it fizzes and bubbles vigorously, your baking soda is still active and can be used for baking. If there’s little or no reaction, it’s time to replace it.

A few additional things to check:
️ Baking soda should be a fine, dry white powder. If it’s become hard, damp, or has an unusual smell, it’s best to discard it.
️ Baking soda doesn’t spoil in the sense of becoming unsafe, but over time it can absorb moisture and odors, making it less effective for baking.
️ If your baking soda has been opened for more than 2–3 years, it’s a good idea to test it before using it in recipes where proper rising is important.
️ If you’re using it only for cleaning, deodorizing, or household purposes, even older baking soda may still work well.

This quick kitchen hack can help you reduce food waste, save money, and make sure your baked recipes turn out just right.
